Wolters Kluwer Law & Business Launches New Online Environmental Compliance Portfolio
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., May 1, 2007) – Environmental compliance professionals and environmental corporate counsel responsible for complying with environmental laws and regulations can now leverage the insight and analysis of seasoned engineers and environmental professionals with the new Environmental Compliance Portfolio, an online resource from Wolters Kluwer Law & Business (http://hr.cch.com/environmental). Wolters Kluwer Law & Business (WK L&B) is a leading provider of specialized business compliance information and software, whose leading brands include Aspen Publishers and CCH.
The Environmental Compliance Portfolio consists of three core areas, Air Quality Compliance; Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Substances; and Wastewater and Water Quality Compliance, to help professionals understand environmental compliance issues and stay current with regulatory changes.
The Portfolio draws on the leading resources of CCH and the prestigious Aspen Publishers journals entitled Air Pollution Consultant and Hazardous Waste Consultant, trusted publications that have been serving environmental professionals for 25 years.
“The new Environmental Compliance Portfolio expands our presence in the environmental market,” said Paul Gibson, WK L&B Business Compliance Group Vice President. “Our portfolio is uniquely centered around in-depth analyses from environmental professionals who are experts in interpreting the laws and regulations. The richness of our linkage capabilities and multiple research path options makes this the ideal resource for facilities managers and corporate counsel professionals.”
Linking Together Multiple Sources
The Environmental Compliance Portfolio helps users understand and respond to environmental compliance issues by linking together information from multiple sources. Regulatory analysis articles, the heart of the Portfolio, are issued as EPA regulatory actions appear in the Federal Register, and are linked directly to the full text of the Federal Register actions. Court case descriptions are also linked to the full text of the cases and regulations. Finally, thousands of U.S. EPA guidance documents are linked to the full text of regulations. The Portfolio’s word search capabilities and the keyword, industry and citation indexes tie all of these three components together to provide a powerful research resource tool that is continually updated.
The Environmental Compliance Portfolio’s primary sources include federal statutes and regulations and full text of the legal cases reviewed, along with analytical content and agency guidance documents. The federal environmental regulations are from Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Statutes in the Portfolio include:
- Clean Air Act;
- Clean Water Act (Federal Water Pollution Control Act);
- Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act;
- Endangered Species Act;
- Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act;
- Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act;
- National Environmental Policy Act;
- Oil Pollution Act of 1990;
- Pollution Prevention Act;
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act;
- Safe Drinking Water Act; and
- Toxic Substances Control Act.
In the coming weeks, coverage will be expanded to include state-specific analysis, statutes, regulations and guidance documents for states with the largest number of industrial facilities, as identified by the EPA.
The Environmental Compliance Portfolio focuses on three distinct areas: Air Quality Compliance; Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Substances; and Wastewater and Water Quality Compliance.
Air Quality Compliance keeps users current with the constantly changing Clean Air Act (CAA) regulations as they affect stationary sources, with practical advice and expert analysis from air quality experts. Air Quality Compliance covers regulatory actions as they occur, along with explanations of court cases affecting CAA regulations. It dissects the underlying rationale behind each regulation covered so users can quickly master the nuances of all corresponding compliance requirements for their facilities.
Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Substances delivers fast online access to compliance solutions for hazardous waste management problems. It offers continually updated analysis of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA); and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) regulations to help users better understand regulatory requirements.
Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Substances keeps users up to date on all of the latest developments related to hazardous waste assessment, treatment, storage and disposal, as well as waste minimization technologies. It delivers updated coverage of federal and state legal cases and provides links to the full text of EPA guidance documents, regulations and court cases.
Wastewater and Water Quality Compliance provides thorough, expert analysis of Clean Water Act (CWA) and Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) issues as regulated by the EPA. It is a powerful research tool that offers regulatory analysis and agency guidance documents all linked back to source material, including Federal Register documents and related regulations.
Users may subscribe to any or all three distinct areas. With a subscription to any part of the Portfolio, users also enjoy complimentary access to the CCH Environmental Tracker, a daily news update and CCH Net News, a biweekly news summary. Also available online is Business and the Environment, a monthly newsletter that focuses on sustainable development and climate change.
