CCH Brings More Convenience, Technology Advances To TAX.CCH.COM

Destination Site Now Provides Free, Fast Access to
IRS Code and Regs, Plus Wireless Access to Daily Tax News

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., July 13, 2001) – CCH INCORPORATED, a leading provider of tax and business law information and software, said today that new enhancements to its popular destination site for tax professionals include free use of its Internal Revenue Code and regulations from the convenience of the home page. In addition to being able to access the most current information on the redesigned web site, tax professionals will have wireless mobile access to CCH’s online information.

Also, the redesigned site offers several handy tax calculators, including three related to provisions of the recently enacted federal tax bill, and convenient front-page access to daily news.

"The newest additions to the site showcase emerging, leading-edge technology, combined with authoritative and timely information resources and helpful software tools that have made CCH the Internet home for the tax community," said Charles Ter Bush, director of marketing, CCH Federal and State Tax group.

Free Code and Regs

The Internal Revenue Code available on the home page of is current, reflecting the recent passage of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001. Visitors can access the Code and regulations by browsing through menus or by searching, including using an advanced search option that retrieves documents by citation.

"The Code contains the added value that CCH subscribers depend on, such as caution notes regarding effective dates and obsolete provisions. Sometimes a quick check of the IRC is all you need," said Ter Bush. "This is the same IRC and regulations text that we use in our Internet products, although within the CCH Internet Tax Research NetWork, these documents are fully integrated, with one-click access to related documents such as expert analysis, court cases, committee reports, etc. In addition, subscribers have access to CCH’s advanced research functionality."

Wireless Access

Enhancements to the destination site also allow professionals to have wireless access to CCH’s timely daily news. CCH can send news headlines or text directly to users of WAP-enabled mobile phones or the Palm VII Personal Digital Assistants. Later this year, the company will expand on the service, providing mobile access to its CCH Internet Tax Research Network.

"Greater flexibility is the key," said Ter Bush. "Through innovative technology, professionals will have even greater time-and-place convenience – working from home, a client’s office, the IRS or anywhere that they need to have access to valuable information."

Useful Calculators

Practitioners will also find immediate benefit in the free calculators available on the site. These fast and valuable tools include:

  • tax rate and phase-out calculator for 2001 taxes,
  • calculator for showing the effects of the 2001 rate cuts,
  • 2001 federal income tax withholding calculator for filling out Form W-4,
  • calculator for figuring the employee auto inclusion amount,
  • savings bond calculator, and
  • loan amortization calculator.

"CCH is increasingly adding value to its superior content with calculating tools that help guide accountants and their clients to speedy, informed decisions," said Ter Bush.

Several of the calculating tools are available to tax professionals’ clients through CCH’s partnership with Execusite. Accountants who use Execusite to build and maintain the web site for their practices, may include the tools on their own sites to serve their current and potential clients.

A Must-See Site for Tax

With the click of a button, visitors can also review the industry’s most comprehensive federal, state and international tax research libraries on the CCH Internet Tax Research Network, as well as intuitive software and professional guidance for financial planning.
