Wolters Kluwer Acquires DPC Computers, Sales And Use Tax Software Company Will Become Part Of CCH INCORPORATED

(CHICAGO, July 12, 2000) – Wolters Kluwer said today that it has acquired DPC Computers, Inc., Monsey, NY, a provider of state and local tax rate information and software. DPC will become part of CCH INCORPORATED, Riverwoods, Ill., a leading provider of tax and business law information and software and a Wolters Kluwer U.S. company. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

DPC’s software provides sales and use tax information and compliance tools covering more than 25,000 state and local jurisdictions in the United States and Canada. Its core software product lines are used primarily by corporations, accounting firms and tax consultants. They include ZIPsales Lookup for sales tax look-up and calculation; ZIPsales Database for seamless integration of sales tax rate data into a variety of different company systems or spreadsheets; Zipsales Zip+4 for identifying rates using the ZIP+4 postal code system; and Tax$olver , a sales and use tax form preparation system.

In addition, DPC offers a line of specialized software products for businesses in especially complex sales and use tax environments, including retail, telecommunications (ZIPcomm ), utilities (ZIPutil ), leasing, food and automobile industries.

Interest in sales and use taxes, especially as they apply to an emerging e-commerce environment, has grown in recent years.

DPC employs approximately 25 employees in Monsey and the company had 1999 revenues of approximately $4 million.
